Dawn Stewart has over thirty-five years of federal and state court litigation experience resulting in desirable results in both cases resolved during the pre-trial mediation and negotiation phase and cases taken through verdict. While having deep experience in all phases of civil litigation, over the course of her career Ms. Stewart has represented Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and individuals. She draws from her big law firm litigation experience as well as her dedication and experience ensuring that the underrepresented have their day in court.
Ms. Stewart has represented plaintiffs in matters involving race, sex, sexual orientation, religious and personal appearance discrimination. Ms. Stewart does not shy away from uncharted waters. She and her partner filed the first private lawsuit against OxyContin manufacturers in 2011.
While Ms. Stewart’s home base has always been the Washington, DC area, she has litigated both federal and state court cases in at least 14 states and has served as national and regional coordinating counsel for insurance clients seeking consistent, high-quality representation through central oversight of local counsel.
Ms. Stewart is a member of the Virginia Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Maryland Bar. She is admitted to practice before the US Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, the US District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, and the District of Maryland, the District of Columbia and the US Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Virginia, the District of Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Ms. Stewart has authored articles and papers on various areas of the law appearing in the Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Law Journal and the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee Newsletter.
